What are the mats required to Craft the Titansteel Destroyer?
To craft the Titansteel Destroyer, you will need the following mats:

• 8 Saronite Bars
• 8 Titansteel Bars
• 2 Frozen Orbs

These items, particularly the Titansteel Bars, are particularly expensive, since the skill to make them are on a 20-hour cooldown. You can either farm them or buy them, but either way, they are expensive.

What are the advantages to wielding the Titansteel Destroyer?
The Titansteel Destroyer is a weapon of awesome power! It does 186.4 Damage per Second (DPS), as well as gives a bonus of +124 Strength and +105 Stamina. If that wasn’t enough, it also improves your hit rating by 54 (worth 1.6% at level 80).

Since it is “Unique-Equipped”, you can only wield one at a time, even if you are a Warrior with the very powerful Dual Two-Handed Weapon spec (a Fury Warrior).

Who should use the Titansteel Destroyer?
Anyone who cares about dealing massive damage and having a really cool-looking weapon should wield the Titansteel Destroyer! Joking aside, you will need the Two-Handed Mace Weapon Skill, which your character may already have (such as Alliance Paladins) or that you will have to learn from a trainer.

Where can I learn to make the Titansteel Destroyer?
As a Blacksmith, you can learn the recipe to make the Titansteel Destroyer from any Blacksmithing trainer in Northrend. You can learn the recipe at 440 Blacksmithing Skill, and it turns Yellow at 450.

Blacksmithing: Eternal Belt Buckle

The Eternal Belt Buckle is an item created – crafted – by high-level Blacksmiths that attaches an extra socket to any Belt-slot items. It is very useful, as it is not Soulbound and can be traded or sold to any character in the game. A nice steady money-maker for your Blacksmiths out there.

Attaching an Eternal Belt Buckle to a belt causes the item to become Soulbound, so think about what you are doing before attaching it.

Eternal Belt Buckle Blacksmithing Level
A Blacksmith will need a Blacksmithing Skill Level of 415 to be able to learn this ‘recipe’ from the trainer. The recipe becomes Yellow at 420, Green at 425 and Grey at 450. It is not really useful to level up the skill, but will contribute a solid 10 points to your Blacksmithing Skill Level before the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

What are the Mats Required to craft an Eternal Belt Buckle?
To make an Eternal Belt Buckle, you will require the following materials:

• 4 Saronite Bars
• 1 Eternal Earth
• 1 Eternal Water
• 1 Eternal Shadow

As you can see, the mats are not exactly cheap, but they are not outrageous, either. This means that you will at the very least recuperate your materials costs when you sell your Eternal Belt Buckles on the Auction House.

There are several really cool points about the Eternal Belt Buckle. From the standpoint of the Blacksmith that is crafting them, they are easy and relatively cheap to make, will help you level your skill, and you will never run out of people to buy them, since as soon as your customers upgrade their gear, they will need to get a new one.

From the user’s point of view, the Eternal Belt Buckle adds an uncolored gem slot to a belt-slot item, which means that they can customize that item to a never-before-seen degree. Casters can add spell power, DPS toons can add critical strike chance, etc., without compromising the slot and overall gem bonuses of the rest of their gear, all of that at a very affordable price.

While I’m not saying that crafting the Eternal Belt Buckle will make any Blacksmith rich beyond his or her wildest dreams, it will be a steady source of income and nice little boost to the Blacksmithing Skill. And for users, while it will not drastically boost your character’s performance, it a chance not to be missed to enhance your class-specific stats and / or abilities at a discount!

Make sure you always use an Eternal Belt Buckle!

I could go on, and probably will…

Mordauk is level 80, his Inscription is up to 437, and every day, I have to make sure to use the cooldown for Northrend Inscription Research. Mandorall, at level 78, must use his Titansteel cooldown.

Well they don’t have to, but it would be silly not to. The problem is that both those cooldowns use a relatively rare material, Icy Pigment for Mordauk and Titanium for Mandorall.

Titanium is a major pain in the butt to farm. Every morning, I get on my bird, and like so many others, scour the once-attractive landscape of Sholazar Basin, looking for Titanium. The problem is that most mornings, all I find is Saronite. A LOT of Saronite. I figure I must gather at least 60-100 Saronites Ores every morning, and If I’m lucky – which I’m often not, by the way – 2-5 Titanium.

To be able to use my cooldown every day, I must gather a MINIMUM of 6 Titanium Ores every day. Since most of the time I do not, either I skip the cooldown or – horror of horrors – buy the stupid ore from the Auction House, at depressingly realistic prices.

Look, I know that’s the way its got to be – controlling the supply, etc – but COME ON! At least give us cool stuff to make with all the Saronite we gather! I can’t count how many Blues I’ve sent to Hladonar do be disenchanted. Well I could, but that’s besides the point.

Give me a really rare recipe that’ll require 100 Saronite Bars, untold number of Eternal Earth and Eternal Shadows, and that’ll craft a nice Epic! Maybe like The Sword of a Thousand Truths?

Mordauk is particularly fond of critical strike rating bonuses as well as strength, so the [Spiked Titansteel Helm] is a perfect fit. The Spiked Titansteel Helm can be crafted from a recipe that Blacksmiths learn at the Trainer at skill level 440.

Mandorall required the following mats for crafting the Spiked Titansteel Helm:

• Saronite Bar x 4
• Titansteel Bar x 4
• Frozen Orb x 1

Now the Saronite and Titansteel were in inventory, and he had to buy the Frozen Orb for roughly 100g. If I had needed to buy everything at the Auction House, I wager that the cost of materials would have been in the 800 to 1000g range.

I added a few – expensive – gems as well as the Ebon Blade Head Enchant, the Arcanum of Torment. Here is what my Spiked Titansteel Helm looked after I was done with it:

• 1821 Armor
• +97 Strength
• +50 Attack Power (Arcanum of Torment)
• +20 Crit Rating (Arcanum of Torment)
• +21 Crit Rating (Meta Gem)
• +3% Crit Damage (Meta Gem)
• +8 Crit Rating (Gem)
• +12 Stamina (Gem)
• +8 Crit Rating (Socket Bonus)
• +60 Hit Rating
• +44 Crit Rating

Now you’ll admit that this is not bad at all. All in all, this adds up to +101 Critical Strike Rating Bonus, not to mention the extra damage caused by the 97 Strength Bonus and the Attack Power Bonus.

At level 80, and set up as it is, the Spiked Titansteel Helm is worth a whoping 2.20% critical strike chance ALL BY ITSELF!

My Ebon Blade reputation is getting up there, too – only 4 more days of running the Dailies and I can finally get the Epic DPS Plate Boots they have. I’m curious to see the effect they will have on my already elevated critical strike rating!

Titansteel is forged from the following ingredients, or materials:

• Titanium Bar x 3
• Eternal Fire x 1
• Eternal Shadow x 1
• Eternal Earth x 1

It is my understanding that Blizzard has tried to counter the effects of rampant gold selling, and the inflationary current that it brings, by introducing cooldowns for the coolest mats.

This creates an artificial limit on the number of particular items available on the market, at any price.

The annoying thing is that you have to remember to use the cooldown!

Titansteel is used in a number of very high level Blacksmithing and Engineering recipes, such as the Mekgineer’s Chopper (Alliance) and the Mechano-Hog (Horde). For those recipes, (12) Titansteel bars are required, which means 2 weeks of cool downs or a LOT of Gold, whichever way you look at it.

The very poor spawn rate to Titanium means that an inordinate amount of time is spent farming in Sholazar Basin, hoping for Titanium nodes but mostly just encountering Saronite.

Don’t get me wrong, Saronite is fine and dandy (and valuable, at least theoretically) but it doesn’t help me on my quest to the greatest, most exalted levels of Blacksmithing!

On another note, this morning I received the mats from Chianna for my very first Blacksmithing Epics, which I crafted for Fluffmuffin, her Death Knight alt! May the Tempered Titansteel Helm and the Tempered Titansteel Treads keep her safe and help her tank!

After 2 years of playing World of Warcraft, of picking up Blacksmithing as a trade skill and then acrimoniously dropping it, blogging about how much I dislike it, I picked it up again and manfully took it to its logical conclusion.

Last night, I reached the exalted Blacksmithing skill of 440. At that level, all the recipes that are orange and the Titansteel ones. So I figure I will be crafting the occasional epic gear for my friends and guildmates, who courageously stood by me during my leveling.

I speak, of course, of Hladonar and his numerous Alts, Chianna and her scarry alter ego Fluffmuffin, Gravewax and Chromer, and my friend Omoro, new to the Guild and to WoW, that helped me rediscover the pleasure of World of Warcraft.

This Blacksmithing achievement – it’s an achievement for me, believe it, even if Blizzard won’t give me 10 points for it! – belongs to all of us, and I’m sure I’ll be crafting epics for no tips for a while yet!

So what’ next? Mordauk is leveling his Ebon Blade reputation, 6 mind-numbing Daily Quests a day, and working on his Inscription, which above 430 slows down to a (bare) crawl.

Allanona is sitting pretty in Howling Fjord, still level 71, and Renei mirrors her inaction in Valiance Keep, Borean Tundra. Both are patiently waiting the adventures that are sure to come!

Poor, old, enfeebled Grunman, so powerful in the (pre WotLK) days of yore, bides his time in Warsong Hold, waiting for the respec that will drag him out of his morass, while Zallesta, Grunman’s sidekick and bank and Auction House Alt, sits pretty (literally) in Silvermoon City, doing her nails and not much else.

Herbiez and Relieff count their money, waiting for next shipment of loot to come in and hawk on the streets.

Maybe a Leatherworking or Tailoring Leveling Guide will be happening soon?

It is learned from a great variety of trainers at level 415, and it seems like it will be a main source of income for level 80 Blacksmiths, since the Eternal Belt Buckle is consumed when it is installed, and people are (inexplicably!) always upgrading their gear!

When installed, the Eternal Belt Buckle creates an extra gem slot on a Belt, called ‘prismatic’, which means it will accept any gem except Meta Gems. It will not, however, contribute to the socket bonus you get by socketing the correct color gems.

For Blacksmiths, here are the materials required to craft the Eternal Belt Buckle:

• 4 x Saronite Bars
• 1 x Eternal Earth
• 1 x Eternal Water
• 1 x Eternal Shadow

In terms of profitability, the Eternal Belt Buckle can be sold on the Auction House for – officially – about 90g. In reality, I have sold 4 of them at 60g each, although they sold really quickly, so I might have been able to get more for them.

One of my Guildmates, Gravewax, bought his on the Auction House for 40-something Gold, so I guess prices vary widely.

I still have to do a little bit of research to know if crafting and selling the Eternal Belt Buckle will be more profitable than selling the components individually. I have the feeling that for once, it might, but I have been disappointed with Blacksmithing items so many times in the past that I’m not keeping my hopes up.

That means that no longer do I have to farm on foot like a worm! No, now Mandorall farms in style, flying over the desolate and beautiful landscape of Outlands, and gathering ore like its going out of style!

This morning, my meanderings took me to Nagrand, where I performed a 40 minute farming run for Adamantite Ore, and whatever else was there.

Here’s what I got:

• 80 Adamantite Ore
• 27 Fel Iron Ore
• 41 Motes of Earth
• 11 Motes of Fire
• 17 Eternium Ore

I think my Nagrand farming run went so well because of the time, and nothing else. I started at 5h30 AM so even though I saw a few other farmers – well, one, specifically – the place was pretty much deserted.

Having a flying mount also allowed me access to areas that are very much out of the way for land-bound farmers. If you have to kill 40 Warmaul Ogres to get to a Adamantite Ore node, then its not really worth it. If you have the ability to swoop in from above, perform a little surgical slaughter, get the ore and fly out, then the whole proposition just got a LOT sweeter.

Thanks to the 280 Fel Iron Ore that I received from Hladonar, I will be able to progress quickly to Adamantite territory, and then on to Cobalt and Saronite. Concerning my Blacksmithing Guide, I have decided to wait until my skill is at 375 to post the rest.

I picked up Blacksmithing again on my Paladin, Mandorall, for the express reason to write these lines.

If you’ve read my previous articles, you know what I think of Blacksmithing.

But after (2) years of playing World of Warcraft, I thought it was time to give it another chance.

This guide mirrors my leveling, meaning that I’m not going to be writing it in one go, but rather in sections, at the same time I level.

In this first section, I will cover how to raise Blacksmithing to 75. I did my leveling in the Dwarf Quarter of Stormwind City, right next to the trainer. That’s where you’ll want to be to make sure you don’t have to run around to learn new recipes when they become available.

Besides the mats you need to level your skill, you will also need a Blacksmithing hammer, which is available from the Blacksmithing Supply person for the absurd sum of 16 coppers.

Make sure to talk to the trainer every 5 points you gain – more or less – to learn the new recipes.

To level your Blacksmithing skill from 1 to 75, you will need:

• 14 Rough Stone
• 280 Copper Bars

Here’s what you’ll be crafting:

1) Rough Sharpening Stone: 14 of them, up to skill level 15

2) Copper Bracers: 5 of them, up to skill level 20

3) Copper Chain Pants: 30 of them, up to skill level 50

4) Copper Chain Belt: 25 of them, up to skill level 75

And voila, your Blacksmithing skill is now at 75!

Bear in mind, there are often several recipes that you can use to level your skill. You can always adjust in function of what you have. Personnaly, I always use the recipes that require less of the items that are annoying and/or expensive to farm, but feel free to digress!

I appreciate his help even more considering that I’ve been busy writing a Blacksmithing leveling guide, as well as putting together the 10-Day WoW Gold course, for which I encourage you to sign up, either at the bottom of this article or in the sidebar to the left.

Now, to the meat of today’s topic: mining Saronite Ore in Sholazar Basin.

I spent about 40 minutes this morning mining for ore in Sholazar Basin, on my brand new flying mount. By the way, what a difference that makes! I actually managed to steal ore right from under the nose of some earth-bound landlubbers! Of course, when I was the worm crawling on the surface of Azeroth, I thought that people that swoop down from the heavens and steal my ore were worse than scum and totally reprehensible.

Now that I’m the one doing it, well, “All’s Fair in Love and (World of) War(craft)!”

In 40 minutes of mining in Sholazar Basin, I got the following:

• 140 Saronite Ore
• 12 Titanium
• 6 Eternal Earth
• 1 Eternal Air
• 5 Eternal Shadow
• 1 Eternal Water

And if that wasn’t enough – it isn’t, I’ve got mounts to pay for! – the following also dropped:

• 1 Monarch Topaz
• 2 Sun Crystals
• 2 Forest Emeralds
• 1 Chalcedony
• 1 Autumn’s Glow
• 3 Dark Jade
• 1 Huge Citrine

In all honesty, all that stuff for 40 minutes of farming is spectacular, in my humble opinion.

I’ve not had the chance to calculate the exact Auction House value of all those items, but I know that some of those gems are worth, theoretically at least, over 100g.

Yesterday, I purchased the Artisan Riding Skill for my Death Knight Mordauk, as well as the Cold Weather Flying skill, for a cool 6 grand. So I’m sure you understand if I have a little catching up to do!
