Half of the reputation gains from the Alliance Vanguard’s four sub-factions count towards the Alliance Vanguard’s reputation.  Quests are scattered throughout the Northrend zones.

Running instances without a championing tabard should raise your reputation with the Valiance Expedition and therefore your Alliance Vanguard reputation as well (I haven’t tested this)

The following daily quests are available:

• [71] Steel Gate Patrol: Steel Gate Chief Archaeologist [30, 28 Howling Fjord], Steel Gate: +250 Explorers’ League, +125 Alliance Vanguard, 20,100 XP, 4g 70s
• [78] Pushed Too Far: Fjorlin Frostbrow [30, 76 Storm Peaks]: +250 The Frostborn, +125 Alliance Vanguard, 12g 96s
• [80] Get the Message: High Captain Justin Bartlet [varies Icecrown], The Skybreaker: +250 Valiance Expedition, +125 Alliance Vanguard, 13g 23s
• [80] Blood of the Chosen: Knight-Captain Drosche [varies Icecrown], The Skybreaker: +250 Valiance Expedition, +125 Alliance Vanguard, 13g 23s
• [80] Assault by Ground: Skybreaker Squad Leader [63, 51 Icecrown], The Valley of Lost Hope: +250 Valiance Expedition, +125 Alliance Vanguard, 13g 23s
• [80] Assault by Air: Ground Commander Koup [63, 51 Icecrown], The Valley of Lost Hope: +250 Valiance Expedition, +125 Alliance Vanguard, 13g 23s

Some of these quests are available early in Northrend and are a good way to raise your reputation while you level.  The quest [71] Steel Gate Patrol is the only daily quest that will raise you Explorer’s League reputation.  [78] Pushed Too Far is the only daily quest that will raise your Frostborn reputation.

It is currently impossible to raise your Silver Covenant reputation (as of 3.0.8)

None of the sub-factions of the Alliance Vanguard give any reputation rewards.  Once you reach Exalted with the Alliance Vanguard you gain access to the Alliance Vanguard quartermasters rewards:

Logistics Officer Silverstone [57,66] at Valiance Keep in the Borean Tundra
Logistics Officer Brighton [59,63] at Valgarde in Howling Fjord

Rewards of note are:

Arcanum of the Savage Gladiator (PvP head enchant)
Schematic: Mekgineer’s Chopper (Engineer schematic for the eye catching motorcycle mount)
