Farming Herbs in Burning Steppes

March 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

This morning, I went farming herbs in Burning Steppes. Why Burning Steppes, do you wonder? I mean, the place looks as barren as the surface of the moon, and besides ogres and orcs, there’s not really much there.

There are several why I selected Burning Steppes for my Herbalism. The first and most important one was the achievement.

I know, I know, I don’t really care about the achievements but come on… Burning Steppes and Herbalism? Sometimes I think that I would have had more success looking for ore on the surface of a lake!

No seriously, it was not that bad. Burning Steppes is not a very large zone, at least compared to the new Outlands and Northrend ones. I did a circuit in about 20 minutes, gathering herbs along the way, and stopping for a few Blackrock mobs that dared interrupt me.

Here is what I gathered in 20 minutes of farming herbs in Burning Steppes:

  • 10 Dreamfoil
  • 7 Golden Sansam
  • 5 Mountain Silversage
  • 1 Black Lotus

“Renei, this is a miserable haul! Why the hell did you say we should grind for herbs in Burning Steppes?”

Yeah, well it is, and no, I did not say you should go there for herbaslism. But Burning Steppes has so many great attractions! There’s all those Blackrock Orcs that can be brutally murdured for their Runecloth – I got 10 Runecloths this morning, article about that coming right up! – and there’s Blackrock Depths (I think), an Instance that a high level character may try soloing.

Here is a map of Herbs in Burning Steppes:

As you can see, the Herbalism nodes in Burning Steppes are few and far between, but I get the feeling that that area is extremely under explored, because in the short time that I was there, I did gather herb nodes that were not yet inventoried in my Gatherer Add-On – this is very rare.

I figure I will return to this area shortly, for the Runecloth article and maybe something about soloing an Instance…

Until then, happy questing and farming!

Black Rock Downs used to be a fav of Enchanters to solo for the easy boss fights and the Fact that BRD has ALOT of bosses to loot. It was also a place to grab Fiery Weapon Enchant and Goblin Jumper Cables if you were lucky. All in all it used to be very lucrative. Maybe once people start leveling alts again from scratch and twinking them it will be back on my list for farming runs.
