Farming Runecloth in Burning Steppes

March 18th, 2009 · No Comments

A few days ago, I went on a Herbalism run and the incidental killings were so promising that I told myself that I absolutely must try farming Runecloth in Burning Steppes.

So this is what I did this morning. I spent around 40 minutes in Burning Steppes, killing the Blackrock Orcs. I did not venture in Blackrock Depths, nor Blackrock Spire, for the simple reason that I wanted to offer a farming run that a level-appropriate character for the Zone could solo, and a pre-BC high level instance is not it.

Moreover, farming Blackrock Depths will be the topic of another article!

Anyways, during my perigrination in Burning Steppes, I killed great quantities of the following:

  • Blackrock Soldiers
  • Blackrock Sorcerers
  • Blackrock Slayers
  • Blackrock Battlemasters
  • Blackrock Warlocks

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say the the Battlemasters have a slightly better chance of dropping Runecloth than the others, but this is pure speculation on my part.

In about 40 minutes of farming Runecloth in Burning Steppes, I gathered 101 Runecloth, 56 Dark Iron Scraps and a variety of Herbs, Vendor trash and even a few green items.

The Dark Iron Scraps can be turned in at Light’s Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands for an Insignia of the Dawn (30 Scraps per Insignia) which will help you gain Argent Dawn reputation. In my humble opinion, you are much better off selling them on the Auction House to someone who still has not realized that Argent Dawn reputation is less than useless.

But that’s just me.

Here is a little map of my short and efficient Burning Steppes Runecloth Farming Route:

As you can see, it’s nothing more that the Pillars of Ash and Blackrock Hold. Easy enough, and the mobs drop Runecloth regularly.

101 Runecloth in about 40 minutes is not bad at all, considering this is not an Instance. I look forward to running Blackrock Depths and comparing how much Runecloth I get there!
