I had several family obligations this weekend, but managed to put in quite a few hours of play. My girlfriend has papers due at school and final exams are coming up quickly, so that left me with some quality playing time.
I’ve been playing my horde Tauren Shaman recently, mostly because I’ve never seriously played a Horde character. It is incredibly fun to start over and discover all the low level quests on the other side that I’ve never done, to once again be excited to sell something for 1g, and to really enjoy and use that level 12 mace that dropped!
Let me tell you, the Barrens are LARGE! I really liked that area, even though I’ve now moved on, for several reasons:
- Many flight points, i.e. Ratchet, Crossroads, Camp Taurajo, cuts down on the running-around time
- Proximity to Ogrimnar. I homed there for the convenience of the Auction House and Bank.
- Good variety of missions and mobs, lots of beasts to skin, some dwarves and alliance-type mobs to kill, not too many escort missions (which I detest)
I must say I am still disappointed that I only managed to get one Blue in 25 levels, but that’s the luck of the draw and there’s nothing I can do about it.
Grunman is now level 28, still poorly equipped, and has now moved on to Stonetalon Mountains and Ashenvale. He is a little to high level for Stonetalon, and a lot of the missions there are grey, however if you stick with it and do them they do have interesting follow-ups with decent (not great) rewards.
One thing that I noticed is that grey missions, when completed, will award from 250 to 575 xps, which I think I more than it used to. Maybe that also has to do with the latest patch intended to speed up leveling from 1-60. Maybe someone can let me know whether that’s the case.
On a purely technical note, I’ve added an auto-responder sign up form at the top right of each page. I encourage you to sign up so I can keep you up-to-date on new posts, articles and maybe offers, although I’ve not come up with any as of this moment. I shouldn’t be emailing you more than once a week, and of course I will never share your email address with anyone.
