There you have it. I admit it. I have broken Rule Number One: Thou Shalt Not Spend Thy Gold Frivolously. I scanned the Auction House with Grunman the other night, and after I finished, I browsed the auctions to see what items could be bought that would bring in a profit.
Lo and behold, [Humbert’s Helm], for only 10g! I did a quick check, and there were others on sale for over 100g! So I jump on it, buy it, and promptly put it back up for 45g! What a deal! A profit of 35g for doing nothing! For one brief, shining moment, I was a REAL war profiteer, feeding on other’s lust for intangible items, AND offering them a saving of up to 55g in the process! I felt good about myself.
Then last night, it all came crashing down, like an elaborate house of cards hit by a typhoon - or a breeze for that matter. Houses of cards are notoriously unsafe. Anyways, my beautiful, beautiful [Humbert’s Helm], which is actually pretty ugly, and in which I’d placed all my trust for early retirement, did not sell.
So in a fit of pique, I equipped the Helm, instantly turning it into future vendor trash, but giving my Grunman an unexpected boost in both Agility AND Stamina.
So that’s the story of what NOT to do when buying stuff for reselling. Of course, I can do it, because Grunman is level 30 now and only 10g away from his mount, despite the crazy spending. However, if you’re playing the Auction House with the tuition money, that might not be such a great idea. But I’m not. My goal is to hit 200g at level 40, which will give me a nice cushion to start with on the way to 60.
