Leveling Herbalism to 75, playing as an Alliance character, is easy as pie. I’m told that this is also true for Horde toons, but I’ve not played a Horde character that has Herbalism as a profession.
Obviously the first thing to do is to speak to the Herbalism trainer so that you can actually get the skill.
In Stormwind, the Herbalism trainer is Tannysa. I don’t have the exact coordinates, but she hangs out in the Mage Quarter, right in the street. If you’re coming from the Trade District, hang a left after entering the Mage Quarter and she’ll be on the right about halfway up the slope. You really can’t miss her.
Herbalism doesn’t require any special equipment, such as a Skinning Knife for skinning, so you can hop to it right away. Sure, you could by an Herbalist Bag, but I don’t think those are very much needed, except maybe to put in the bank and store your herbs.
Anyways, off you go!
If you are a Human, Elwynn Forest will be your first stop. The herbs you can gather in Elwynn Forest are:
- Peacebloom
- Silberleaf
- Earthroot
I believe you can make it all the way to 75 by gathering up only those Herbs. Since I was doing my Herbalism run with my newly-minted Death Knight, Mordauk, I explored the entire zone for the (worthless) Achievement, then went to Westfall, where I repeated the same pattern.
*** To Level Quickly and Efficiently, use this Automated Leveling Assistant, either for Alliance or Horde ***Once you reach level 50 in Herbalism, I suggest you go back to the trainer in Stormwind to get the upgrade to your skill, which will allow you to raise your skill to 150.
The reason for this is as not to waste gathers when you are at 75. It’s not required, but highly recommended.
As I said, I did my leveling in the Human sector – Elwynn Forest, but those herbs can be found in all racial starting Areas, Alliance as well as Horde. They are:
- Teldrassil – Night Elf
- Dun Morogh – Dwarf and Gnome
- Azuremyst Isle – Dranei
- Tirisfal Glades – Undead
- Mulgore – Tauren
- Eversong Woods- Blood Elf
- Durotar – Orc and Troll
Even if you are at 75 Herbalism and have not followed my advice about buying the Journeyman Herbalist upgrade at level 50, you should still gather every herb you come across. With the new Inscription skill, Herbs, even the lowly Peacebloom et al., are very valuable. If you gather too much, you should sell them on the Auction House.
That way, you can make a nice little bit of WoW Gold on the side. Remember, never sell anything that’s not grey to a Vendor! NEVER!
