Herbalism Map: Borean Tundra

January 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Like I mentioned in previous posts I took Mordauk, my Death Knight, to Borean Tundra as the entry-level zone for Northrend.

Mordauk is an Inscriptor / Herbalist, so he was hoping for some good herb farming in Borean Tundra, all the while accomplishing quests to propel him to level 80. Well, ok, level 71.

Here are the herbs that can be found in the Borean Tundra:

  • Goldclover
  • Tiger Lily
  • Firethorn

These are the three herbs that spawn. From all three, you can get the occasional Deadnettle, as well as the very rare Frost Lotus.

Firethorn nodes drop the following:

  • Fire Seed
  • Fire Leaf

These are temporary buffs that either grant you a great bonus to your attack power, at the cost of 100% of your armor, or an equally great bonus to your spell power but making you extremely vulnerable to magic.

Unsurprisingly, these are worth less than peanuts at the Auction House.

Here is the map – uncovered to the best of my current ability – of Herbalism in Borean Tundra:

Coldclover, being the Peacebloom of Northrend, can be found pretty much everywhere, but not in any great concentration.

Tiger Lily can be farmed in great numbers around the lake in the middle of the map. The spawn rates for the Tiger Lily there is quite spectacular, so spending some time there is really not a bad idea.

In my opinion, Firethorn is only good to be picked up to level your Herbalism skill, as well as for the odd chance that you will receive a Frost Lotus. If you must gather some, then the periphery of the Geyser Fields is the place to go.

Remember that all herbs that you gather, be they Goldclover, Firethorn or Tiger Lily, have a chance to drop some Crystallized Life. You can turn (10) of these into an Eternal Life, much like the Motes of Outland.
